DESCRIPTORS FOR IDEAS AND CONTENT

The following list of descriptors is adapted from the Six Trait Analytic Writing Model rubric for ideas and content. I developed the list for my students so that they would have a reference for how writers develop ideas and content.

A writer should do the following:

bulletNarrow the topic to something specific
bulletUse fresh and original ideas
bulletWrite from experience
bulletShow insight in the writing
bulletMake the main idea stand out
bulletUse supporting details
bulletStay in control of the topic
bulletDevelop the topic in an entertaining way
